Why CSV Uploads Aren't a Long-Term Solution We understand the appeal of getting context such as part and operator information into Amper without manual entry. However, relying on CSV uploads for the long-term isn't ideal. Here’s why:
- Lack of Real-Time Updates: CSV uploads only allow for data entry after jobs are completed. This means scoreboards and other updates won't be as timely as needed.
- Strict Data Consistency Required: The data must be stable and error-free, which can be challenging to maintain consistently.
- Tedious and Repetitive Process: Over time, manually uploading CSV files can become a repetitive and frustrating task, leading to potential dissatisfaction.
- Limited Data Capabilities: CSV uploads don't support part counts. You can only apply part numbers and operator names to uptime/downtime data, meaning you can't track actual cycle times or job totals.
An ERP integration offers a more stable, real-time, and comprehensive solution for your needs.
CSV Upload Options
Parts
Parts do not need to exist in Amper. New parts will be automatically created in Amper that appear in the CSV.
If a part already exists in Amper (based on part name), the cycle time will be updated if different from the existing cycle time.
Operators
If the operator already exists in Amper (based on first and last name), the operator name will not be duplicated.
Goals
If a Goal already exists in Amper (based on its name), it will be replaced by the new Goal in the upload. The following fields are not required: job_name
, machine_name
, and notes
.
Tally Sheets
A Tally Sheet is a record of “already completed work” over some period of time in Amper.
Tally sheet templates automatically apply the following fields, notes,
part_name
, machine_name
, and operator_name
to tally sheets with in the specific start_time
and end_time,
from the CSV.
Tally Sheet CSV Upload FYIs
- Parts & operators must already exist in Amper.
- Required fields:
machine_name
,start_time
andend_time
- Not required:
notes
part_name
andoperator_name
.
No Overlapping
You can’t provide start_time
and end_time
values that overlap for any given machine. Once you upload a template for a machine, say from 2023-10-11 8:00
to 2023-10-11 9:30
, you can never upload another template that touches the 8:00
to 9:30
timeframe that day. Additionally, if you try to upload a single file that has overlaps for a machine, it’ll be rejected.
Routings
The part needs to already exist in Amper, via CSV or manually created.
Download Existing Records
You can also download existing records in Amper, for Parts, Operators, Goals, & Tally Sheet Templates by clicking on the download existing link on the CSV upload page.
Uploading the CSV
Once the file is selected, Amper will parse the records to show you all the passing and failing records. If you choose to upload the data then simply click the Upload Passing
icon. If you choose not to upload and wish to upload another one simply click on the Clear
icon.
Passing Records
All passing records will be uploaded into Amper.
Failing Records
All failing records are ignored and will not be uploaded into Amper.
If you proceed, the failing records do not get uploaded. If you want to fix them, you have to go back to the source CSV, fix the errors, and re-upload the CSV.
