Welcome to Copilot, the new operator interface
You’ll only need an overview of Copilot, which is replacing the tally sheet view.
Below is a snapshot of how you’ll enter work details in Copilot.
You can download this document, make edits to align to your shop’s practices, print it and post it around your shop floor for your operators!
Why Copilot?
Copilot is part of an intentional shift toward running operations around jobs and work orders instead of machines.
Why? Because machines are only one part of the puzzle. To get jobs out the door on time, you need several things to be in sync: teams, machines, ERPs, and more.
Copilot makes it more intuitive for operators to keep track of jobs and understand how they are progressing towards their shift and job targets. And it requires limited manual input.
Getting started
This is the Copilot start screen.
Here, you’ll choose to start Production or Setup.
- If you’re starting a setup, expand the toggle header Starting a Setup
- If you’re starting production, go directly to Start Production from the Start Screen
Starting a Setup
Start production from the Start Screen
Select a pre-defined job when you log in to start production.
When you reach the start screen, navigate to the job
field.
Click to open the dropdown and select the appropriate job.
The remaining fields will auto-populate.
Click Start Production
to continue.
In Copilot (operator interface)
If you’re opted into scheduling, your operators will be able to see whats coming up next while they’re using the operator interface.
When selecting a new job from the drop down in Copilot, there will be a clear indicator showing them the Next Up
job. They’ll still be able to pick any job from the list, but Copilot shows them which is the one they should pick.
Once they’re in the tally sheet view of Copilot, they can also peek at the list of upcoming jobs using the Next Up
button on the bottom toolbar.
Tally Sheets
Current Work
Track current shift targets and progress.
The metrics across the top of Current Work will show you:
- Good parts vs. target parts
- Scrap parts vs. total parts and scrap rate
- Percentage of parts completed
The table in the center of the page will show you real-time and target numbers for:
- Parts
- Cycle times
- Utilization
The gray sections on the right will show you:
- Shift end part count forecast
- Job completion forecasts
These rolling calculations help you communicate with customers or make production adjustments accordingly.
Job Overview
Track overall job targets and progress.
The Job Overview
page shows the same type of information as the Current Work
view, but they are the metrics for the entire job. So if a job spans over multiple shifts or days, the Job Overview
will display what has previously been worked on.
If the job is small enough that it can be achieved in one shift (i.e. one sheet), then the metrics under Current Work
and Job Overview
may be the same.
Notes and Custom Fields
Add optional context to the tally sheet or job.
Sheet notes and Job notes are not required fields, but they are a great place to add anything you want your managers to see.
Sheet notes are visible only for your current sheet. Job notes roll over to the next sheet that job is worked on.
Custom fields are only required if they’ve been marked as such by your managers.
Every tally sheet will show the same custom fields, but the information entered will only apply to the tally sheet you’re in.
The information entered does not carry over to the next shift or tally sheet, even if it is under the same job.
Tip: If you’re using the custom field for something like Operation
or Customer
and want that value to carry over across shifts, we recommend entering that into the Job Name field.
If you have any concerns about this and feel like it will not work for you, please reach out to your Customer Success Engineer.
