If your user type is User
then you may have noticed that your access levels have changed. Those with User
level access no longer have the ability to edit settings pages.
If this is an issue, have your admin update your access to Admin
or have them create a Custom User Group to fit your needs.
Overview
With Amper’s user permissions, you now have the power to decide who can access what, granting you more control, security and flexibility over how your team uses the platform.
Choose from our 4 default user groups (admin, user, viewer, non-user) or build a custom group.
How do I get it?
Go to Settings
> User Permissions
to view and edit the user permissions for each user group. The sections below will outline the details of the default user groups and how to create custom groups.
Once you’ve created your user groups, you can assign them to each user in the Company settings page.
Access Levels
Three different levels of access are used in the default groups and when defining custom groups. These access levels determine the level of interaction a user can have with a given page or resource in the Amper web app. The access levels are as follows:
Write
- user has the ability to create, edit, and delete anything on the selected page.Read
- user has view-only access. They can view all details, but cannot create, edit, or delete any information. No Access
- the user cannot see anything on the selected page.
Default User Groups
The default user groups can be found in the Default
section of the User Permissions page. These groups are created and maintained by Amper and cannot be edited or deleted. If you require more customized user types, you can create a custom user group.
The table below defines the default user groups and the permissions associated with each.
User Group | Summary | Write Access | Read-Only Access | No Access |
Admin | For the Amper power user. Access to all Amper tools, as well as the ability to create users, modify settings, create custom dashboards, change schedules and more. | All pages
User | Access to tools for editing and interacting with day-to-day data, including schedules and downtime labels, but limited permissions to adjust shifts, machine settings, or system-wide configurations. | All pages with the exception of settings (e.g. downtime console, scheduling, dashboards, etc) | Settings pages
Viewer | Full visibility into all Amper data and insights, without the ability to make changes or modifications | All pages
Non-User | For call team tracking only. No login access will be granted, user record is only for tracking and reporting purposes. | All pages |
Custom User Groups
If you need to create user groups that are more customized than the default groups managed by Amper, you have the ability to create custom user groups.
If you do not see a section called Custom
, then you have not created any user groups yet. Once you have created at least one custom group, they will appear in the Custom
section at the top of the User Permissions page.
To create a custom group, click Create Group
in the top right corner.
You’ll see a modal appear where you can name your new group. Enter the name and click Create
.
Click on the pencil icon to edit the permission details of your group.
This will take you to the full details of the user group, where all details can be viewed and edited.
Select the drop down next to each page listed to choose the access level for each available resource.
When creating a new custom group, all pages will default to No Access
Continue this process assigning the access level for each page until you are satisfied with your new custom group.
General Functionality
Filter by Access Level
While viewing the details of a user group (either custom or default), you can filter by access level—Read, Write, or No Access—at the top of the page. This makes it easier to understand how the permissions are defined within each user group.
View Member List
The list of all users in your factory that have been assigned to that user group will appear on the right side of the page, in the Members
section.
While you are unable to edit the member list directly from the User Group details page, you can click on the user’s name, and you’ll be directed to that user within the Company page. From there, you can re-assign them to the preferred user group.
