Welcome to Copilot!
What’s new?
We’ve introduced a new operator interface! This guide will help you transition smoothly from the tally sheets you’ve been using to Copilot.
This transition won’t require any major workflow changes. You can continue to use only the fields you’re interested in. We hope you find this interface easier to use!
Below is a snapshot of how you’ll enter work details in Copilot.
You can download this document, make edits to align to your shop’s practices, print it and post it around your shop floor for your operators!
A note on goals
Using goals is highly recommended, but not required. Goals are an integral part of Amper’s shift from machine-centric to job-centric operations. Goals will help you track a job’s real-time progress and projected end date.
Follow the guide below to transition to Copilot without goals, or learn more about Goals.
How to use Copilot the way you’ve been using tally sheets (no goals)
If you’re using all or some of the available tally sheet fields, you’ll still find all of these fields available in Copilot—plus some new ones!
These new fields are:
Target part count
Target utilization
Target end date
Goal name
Let’s dive in to how to use Copilot to achieve the same things you’ve been working on.
Getting started
This is the Copilot start screen.
Here, you’ll choose to start Production or Setup.
- If you’re starting a setup, expand the toggle header Starting a Setup
- If you’re starting production, go directly to Start Production from the Start Screen

Enter details for the body of work you’re about to begin.
You only have to fill out the fields you’ve been using.
You can leave the new ones empty or hide them as described below.

If you don’t want to see the new fields at all, follow these steps:
- Navigate to
Settings
>Tally Sheet Settings
in the Amper web app. - Find the section called
Goal Fields
. - Click on the pencil icon next to the field you’d like to edit.
- When the pop-up appears, select the

once you’ve checked the appropriate box.
Tally Sheets
Tally sheets now have three distinct pages: Current Work, Goal Overview, and Notes and Custom Fields.
Current Work
This is the new tally sheet view.
Within your tally sheet, your main focus will be on the large numbers at the top: Good parts
and Scrap
.
These will keep track of your production and scrap rates in real time as you add part counts.
--
instead of a number in some of the fields in your tally sheet. Amper will provide as much production information as possible based on the data you do enter.Goal overview
The Goal Overview
page shows metrics for the entire goal. The fields on this page will be populated with --
if you are not using goals.
Notes and custom fields
Add optional context to the tally sheet or goal.
Sheet notes are not required fields, but they are a great place to add anything you want your managers to see.
Custom fields are only required if they’ve been marked as such by your managers.
Custom fields will show up on every tally sheet. The information entered into them will apply only to the tally sheet you’re starting.
Tip: Want a custom field value to carry across shifts (e.g. Operation
or Work order number
)? Enter it into the Goal
field, since a goal can span several shifts.
If you have any concerns about this and feel like it will not work for you, please reach out to your Customer Success Engineer.
